CAFÉ COYOTE TO BE AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS "TEQUILA HOUSE" DESIGNATION BY THE ACCLAIMED ACADEMIA MEXICANA DEL TEQUILA!
Café Coyote of Old Town, San Diego will become the 2nd Certified Tequila House in the entire United States, on September 15, 2007 at the 5th Annual Spirits of Mexico Event.
Philip Soto Mares, President of the highly regarded Academia Mexicana del Tequila, will be honoring Café Coyote with this designation and with a 5 Star Rating. Café Coyote achieved the honor by its commitment to Tequila Culture and by developing a highly educated and knowledgeable staff. Café Coyote will receive a 5 star Agave rating by having over 115 tequilas in their cantina with over 50 of the tequilas being 100% Agave Tequilas.
Lehn Goetz owner of Café Coyote States, "The entire Café Coyote team is extremely proud and honored to be receiving the "Tequila House" designation by the Academia Mexicana del Tequila, long considered the authority on tequila." In addition Café Coyote's Tequila Ambassador Mario Marquez will be certified as a "Tequilier Ambassador" by the Academia. This certification is extremely difficult to achieve and requires rigorous studies and knowledge of tequila, its origin, its distillers, and its terroir. Mario will become one of only five tequiliers in the entire United States graduating with this elite distinction.
To celebrate this incredible accomplishment, Café Coyote will host the Spirits of Mexico six course tequila pairing dinner on September 14, 2007. This event is open to the public and offers guests a rare opportunity to taste specialty tequilas with master distillers, worldwide industry leaders, book authors, and other highly regarded spirits critics.
Tequila long thought of as a beverage to be consumed fast (in shots) with salt and lime is now being recognized as a distinguished beverage to be savored and sipped. The 100% Agave Tequilas rival single malt scotches in price and complex tastes. A growing cocktail culture has made tequila the fastest growing spirit in the world.
Old Town, San Diego (home to Café Coyote) leads the tequila market by selling more tequila in Old Town than any other location in the world. Margaritas are still the most popular form of drinking tequila. Café Coyote's offers a full page of specialty Margaritas made with varying tequilas and different mixers. The best selling is still the Original Margarita made with tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.
